Red Bull for your Attitude. How Do You #Bangitout?

Tags: , , , , ,

Taglines, attitudes and Twitter. @Garyvee has “Crush it” P. Diddy had his “Lock In” movement. LizMoney now has #Bangitout. What is it? It’s an attitude, a way to approach every task you may have to tackle. Just go after what you want with all you have.

How did this come about? I was asked to speak at our local NetSquared meeting in New Orleans to talk about the upcoming BarCampNOLA event. As I was explaining the unstructured nature of BarCamp; the “un-conference” and that some presentations are inspired right there, by a group of people that have just met, spark a presentation on the spot and “Bang it out!”
The phrase has since been picked up and tweeted out, starting with other members of Net2NO, particularly, Chris Boudy and ChampSuperstar the New Orleans community digs it and is a Twitter hashtag.

So whatever your day brings you, tackle it with gusto and passion. We all feel like there’s not enough time in the day to do all the things we want or need to do, but if you harness your passion and Bang It Out, time flies and you’ll get more done than you thought you ever could!

So, take the tag to your Twitter stream and adjust your attitude towards life. Whatever you do, get excited about it! Tap into your passion and #Bangitout! Encourage others to rock their day, congratulate someone who is having a great day, bring the #Bangitout attitude to everyone you encounter. It will inspire them, recharge them, maybe even make them laugh.

And that’s what I like to hear.

Tell me. How do YOU #Bangitout? @LizMoney on Twitter, leave me a comment, or drop me an e at lizmoney.media@gmail.com

Dell + Android?

TAGS: None

Well what’s this? Dell is working on a gadget that will be comprable to Apple’s iPod Touch…and it’s going to run Android? This is kind of interesting. According to cnet.com:

The device is considered part of a new category of gadgets called mobile Internet devices, or MIDs, which are designed to fit into the market between a mobile phone and a laptop or Netbook computer.

The device could go on sale as early as the second half of 2009, according to the Wall Street Journal’s sources.

Dell supposedly started working on the new device about a year ago as a way to compete against Apple’s iPod business. The Journal also cited an unnamed source who said that Dell has considered selling the new Internet device through a cell phone carrier. Dell and other computer makers such as Hewlett-Packard already sell their Netbooks through cell phone operators

Earlier this year, there was also a rumor that Dell was working on a smartphone, and also testing Android for use as the operating system on their netbooks.

Is Sony Eyeing the iPhone? Rumor: Playstation Phone in the Works?

Tags: , , , , , , ,

Rumors are circulating that Sony is planning to develop a combo gaming and cell phone device. Japanese Business daily Nikkei reported that Sony is putting together skunkworks team to develop this gadget that will marry the PlayStation Portable gaming consoles with the Sony-Ericsson mobile phone handsets.

O RLY? Can Sony take on the iPhone? Neither their Walkman or Sony Ericsson phones do that well at all in the US market. Personally, I’d like to see more Ericsson phones in the US market, I’ve had an Ericsson phone and I was really happy with it. But the general attitude towards Ericssons are “meh” at best. What could help this phone is if it gets the same all access to the PlayStation gaming network like their other handheld gaming systems. They also have to go up against the big wall of iTunes.

However, this isn’t the first time that Sony’s had designs on this kind of hybrid device. From Businessweek:

“Rumors that Sony was working on a PlayStation cell phone first cropped up two years ago when Sony’s engineers filed a patent describing such a gizmo. The Internet rumor mill went into overdrive again in April, after Kazuo Hirai, who had led Sony’s video game division, was named as the head of a broader portfolio of networked products and services. The PlayStation Network is Sony’s biggest success story in online services. Under Hirai, the PlayStation group has rolled out online downloads of music, movies, TV shows, games and created a content platform for developers to create applications and games, sell videos, and post trailers and sneak previews. It’s clearly the model that Sony wants other divisions to emulate.”

With some phones such as the LG Versa trying to capture the gamers with it’s gamepad module, we see that companies are hoping to catch gamers’ attention.

Michael Jackson. We Will Remember The Time (1958 – 2009)

Tags: , , , , ,

I can’t believe it. Michael Jackson is gone. How did I find out? Twitter. Then the internets imploded upon itself. Twitter, Wikipedia, TMZ (the site that scooped it), Facebook, mobile phone networks all crashed and fail whaled in the hours following the news. I know my data stream on my Blackberry got extremely slow, my friends in L.A. couldn’t call out, so I got texts from them, and my Twitter stream was going nuts with all the breaking information. Dead? Alive? Coma? No coma? It changed every minute. It was like watching him die. Almost. Kind of, because I was seeing it all break in real-time.

People will have many different opinions on his character and his personal life, but as a musician force in the music industry, he was it. His influence is in everything from production, to choreography, to fashion statements. You can’t deny it.
In every phase of his career there’s songs that have been associated with significant events in my life. Jackson 5 songs were the only songs that I had to “take back” from my ex. There was no way that he was going to ruin J5 for me. There are so many other songs that I can no longer listen to because of the association of my time with him, but I had to take back Michael.

Pathos aside, here it is, my favorite Michael Jackson video. I love the choreography, the pageantry, the superstar cameos, and his hair looks really great.

RIP Michael Jackson. I can’t believe you are gone.

T-Mobile Releases it’s Second Android Handset, The MyTouch In August

Tags: , , , , , ,

To round out the smartphone debuts, comes the second Android handset from T-Mobile. The G1 has been out for a while now, and I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting for Android to come out with some new handsets. Coming in August, T-Mo will drop the MyTouch for $199. It’s a completely different handset from the G1, basically it’s the Google Ion that was given to peeps at the Google I/O conference, and the HTC Magic, which was released in Canada and overseas.

The name of the phone, myTouch, goes with the big ethos of this phone: Customizability. Users will be able to customize the menus, wallpapers, icon and a range of other things on the device with the use of themes and skins. The handset will come in 3 colors, black, white, and merlot, and there will also be options to customize the shell of the unit also.

The phone will also get to know you and your search habits over time, how very Google of them:

“The other key point T-Mobile is touting for the myTouch is something called Sherpa, which T-Mobile worked with startup Geodelic to create. Basically, Sherpa is an application that claims to learn from a user’s actions. So, for example, if you’re searching a lot of Thai food, Sherpa should recognize that as something that you like in the future. And it uses your location information to give you tailored results for what it believes you will want based on what you’re around.”

The Hardware

While the myTouch keeps it’s 528 MHz processor, it has doubled it’s internal memory to 512 MB which bumps up the loading of apps and also makes the apps run more smoothly than on the G1. The screen size and resolution is the same as the G1, and unfortunately, is still not multi-touch. The camera is 3.2 megapixel with autofocus, comes with a 4-GB microSD card.

The big difference is that they did away with the physical keyboard. It’s running the Cupcake OS build, and the myTouch will now have a virtual keyboard. This makes for a slimmer, sleeker, and lighter handset.

While these some of these specs are admittedly, slightly meh, there is one big improvement. They did improve the battery life, which was the biggest complaint that users had with the G1. According to TechCrunch, “Well just in everyday use with a couple applications running in the background, my G1 battery would be gone in a few hours. The myTouch battery easily lasts all day in the same environment.”

Existing T-Mobile customers can pre-order the myTouch starting July 8. The device will be $199 with a 2-year agreement, and availability is set for early August.

It’s the Twitter Client Ultimate Fighting Championships. TweetDeck and Seesmic Both Launch Major Updates

Tags: , , , , , ,

Welcome to the Twitter Client UFC Octagon!
TweetDeck and Seesmic go head to head with huge updates to their desktop clients… and TweetDeck has a pretty sweet finishing move.
Earlier today, I got an email from Seesmic announcing their upgrade. Here are the Deets from the email,  with .:commentary:. by LizMoney:

Multi-Account Posting with Smart Account Enabling:
We’ve upgraded the user interface to select which accounts to send posts to, saving you the time and effort it takes to post to each account separately. We’ve also added an option for Smart Account Enabling. With this feature turned on, this will allow Seesmic Desktop to change accounts when messaging your friends based on whom you are replying or direct messaging to. Seesmic will not change the accounts if you do not enable Smart Account.
.:Ooh I like the Smart Account feature. If you are managing other people’s tweets, there’s no danger of mis-tweeting:.

Authenticated bit. ly Integration:
You can now use your own bit. ly account when using bit. ly as a shortener for Seesmic Desktop. By simply entering your bit. ly API key, you can now keep track of your URL clicks when sharing your links with your friends and followers.
.:Nice. This way, you can track your link stats and see how much your bit.ly link is clicked:.

New Services Panel:
Along with bit. ly, we have set a foundation for managing your accounts for sending images, and be able to set them in our new Services Panel. The Additional Integrated Account Services panel currently includes image services such as Pikchur (where you can set your own account), Posterous, TwitPic, Twitgoo & yfrog (which is currently using your twitter account).
.:Integration. Put your Tweet out on blast on other services right from inside Seesmic:.

You can also watch a demo video here

TweetDeck, the defending champion in Twitter clients comes back with a Super Combo. It’s not just upgrading, but it’s ReLaunching it’s desktop application and has the finishing move – TweetDeck for the iPhone. Available Today at 9pm PT. This is awesome…because, after using Tweetdeck, whenever I’m on mobile, I miss my groups and columns.
Here’s the deets for the iPhone App, from Mashable:

- Column based friend groups (like TweetDeck desktop)
- TweetDeck desktop syncing (make a change on the iphone and it’s reflected back on the PC)
- Facebook toolbar like status updates
- Multiple account support
- Flicking to move between columns
- Shake to refresh

**Ha-Du-Ken** That’s awesome.
ooh Tweetie, better watch your back. TweetDeck for the iPhone just challenged you to a streetfight.

So the Deets on the TweetDeck updates ReLaunch via Mashable, .:commentary:. by LizMoney:

TweetDeck will support mobile-to-desktop sync. This means whenever you make a change on TweetDeck (i.e. change friend groups or columns), it will automatically update on your iPhone and vice-versa, multiple accounts and unlimited columns.
**Shori-yuken!**

“Block and Report Spam” button: Clicking on this button will not only delete the spam message, but it will block that specific user and report them to Twitter. Simply brilliant.
.:Word! All those Britney sucking on various things accounts? Gone and reported!:.

“Reply All” feature:
You can now tweet to everyone who is mentioned in a specific tweet.
.:Yes! I’ve been dying for this. Often there are more than just one person involved in a conversation that I want to reply all to:.

“TweetDeck Recommends” column: Just as it sounds, it’s a column with a list of recommended people to follow.
.:As Borat would say: Verrry nice. A great way to get genuine follwers and add value to your tweetstream :.

Deeper video playback support: Qik, 12seconds, and other video clips are fully supported in TweetDeck.
.:Just in time for that iPhone 3G S video capability:.

Auto-suggest filter: When you start typing someone’s username, it will find the person and allow you to add them to a group quickly.
.:Sweet. Group your peeps on the fly:.

Integration with YFrog for photo sharing.

RE (In reference to): A new menu feature that allows you to reference a specific user or a tweet in your own message.
.:I like this. Because you might miss an @ to you, or want to reply to someone’s tweet who is scrolling fast. It facilitates connections and conversations:.

Are you ready to rumble?! Both applications are busting out with great improvements and upgrades, not to mention throwing down on the iPhone front.
But they are not alone. PeopleBrowsr is a social media addict’s dream. Imagine TweetDeck on steroids. With ADHD. It multitasks with almost every single Social Media site out there and you can customize it like woah. It’s so feature rich, I have been using it for a few weeks and still haven’t gotten to everything that it can do.

Also,  I’m pushing beta on Mixero, which is on the other end of PeopleBrowsr, as it’s motto is “Reduce the Noise” it’s clean, great for only picking out what you want to see, when you want to see it. It will slim down your twitterstream to just what you want to see. It’s awesome for when you want to track a certain trend (I used it for tracking #E3 and #WWDC streams), or just certain groups, and it’s minimize-to-avatars when it’s not in focus is my favorite feature. Mixero’s got an iPhone app in the works too. It’s definitely one to watch. You can follow @Mixero and @Peoplebrowsr for latest news and updates on these apps. They’ll answer any of your questions too, they are super responsive.

So who will win the Twitter client Kumite? What is your favorite Twitter Client? Let me know! @LizMoney on Twitter, leave a comment, drop me an email: lizmoney.media@gmail.com

Put Your Name to the Face. FaceBook Opens Up Vanity URLs.

Tags: , ,

Up until now, if you are on Facebook, you may have noticed that your profile url ends in a crazy set of numbers. Making it somewhat unwieldy if you wanted to send someone your profile link. There was a workaround introduced a few months ago, where you could get a “profile.to/username” and it would forward it to your profile.
Then…the news broke. Facebook is going to allow everyone to have a custom URL. The countdown was on. Literally. There was a countdown to your URL on Friday night that auto refreshed when it was time to pick your name. Yes. I waited and watched the countdown with my Twitterstream and snagged my custom URL.
I’m not the only one who jumped on this. According to Mashable.com, “200,000 usernames have been registered in 3 minutes (one of them was me, hee) and then 1,000,000 usernames in first hour.” That’s a lot of peeps. If you haven’t snagged yours yet, you can go to http://www.facebook.com/username/. Go Get you Some.

iPhone 3G S: Snooze, You Lose. Pre-Orders are Already Out of Stock.

Tags: , , , , ,

Well, you don’t really lose. You just have to wait a couple more weeks before you can get your new iPhone 3GS. If you put in your order now, your new baby will be delivered to you and you won’t have to go to the Apple Store to pick it up.

If you have put in your pre-order order, you are ate least guaranteed a slot at the Apple Store in the 7am power hour to get your new baby. The rest of the masses will have to gear up and be ready to throw down to fight for the remaining stock when the Apple Store opens at 8am or go to your local ATT store.

So, gear up. Either for your camp out at the Apple Store, or for your battle to get your hands on the remaining stock. Good Luck all!
